I was sitting at my desk awhile back & realized I ought not wait my whole life to live the life I plan to, & so it goes. I immediately started crossing things off my list, but soon had another realization. “Living” is not just crossing things off of your bucket list, or provoking an adrenaline response, it’s more about the little things; technically it’s both. So while I deeply enjoy the days that fulfill my long awaited dreams, I tend to be more focused on the little moments. First, because there are more of those, & second, because they matter. Life should be about the jokes you share with your dad as he drives you to school & the music your mom chooses while you cook your favorite meal. Living is stopping to play a game of giant Jenga with your brother & buying your ice cream in a cone instead of a cup. It’s eating a whole carton of strawberries in one sitting because they’re fresh & it’s procrastinating your homework to run in the rain. The goal of living is different for everyone. For me it’s based on my beliefs & that I ought to be improving everyday, following my forever example; but I’m also a strong advocate of doing one thing a day that is important or meaningful to you. Some days that’s skydiving & other days it’s taking a power nap, it’s called balance.
